DISCOVER HANSTHOLM HARBOUR!
Auktionsgade 39, 7730 Hanstholm
32.0 km
100 years ago Hanstholm was a small fishing village with a few houses on top of the islet. In 1917 it was decided to build a harbour on the site. There were big plans for the future, but the harbour project came to a complete halt during WWII. World War II, when the Germans turned the town into a fortress. Holm residents had to wait 50 years before the harbour was opened in 1967.
Denmark's largest fishing port in terms of fish consumed (value of fish landed). The total length of the quay is 4.5 km. All cutters based in the Port of Hanstholm have the registration letter T or HM.
On weekdays the fish auction is at 6:45 am in the auction hall at Auktionsgade 11. Remember to wear warm clothing and footwear - all year round.
The port is a workplace with many activities (trucking, etc.) and therefore great care should be taken when moving around the port and unnecessary movement should be avoided.
Sea fishing trips to the "Yellow Reef" are available from the harbour.
Hanstholm Røgeri is located on the harbour. In the shop you can buy smoked and fresh fish.
