Hurup - an active trading village in Thy
Hurup is the second largest town in Thy. The town's history is not long, but it boasts an amazing development. In the late 1800s Hurup was a humble collection of small houses, but in 1882 the railway came! It was built with a station building in Hurup, and since then the town has grown by leaps and bounds.
Hurup is the capital of Southern Thye, and the perfect place for a pleasant shopping trip for the whole family in the town's over 50 shops. The lovely pedestrian street invites you for a shopping trip and in summer there is a market day every Monday, where you almost crowd the space on the pedestrian street.
The city's landmark, the Teutonic Column, was inaugurated in 1984 and is a seven-metre high stone column in clear blue ceramic with crescent signs and words made by Erik Nyholm.
In the nice city park and at Sydthy Kur- og Svømmebad there are beautiful wooden sculptures. In the swimming pool you can really be pampered. There is a large new wellness and spa bath, as well as Roman and Egyptian baths. And of course there's also a swimming pool where children can have fun, including seesaws and a waterslide.
